Calling all Auckland comics people!

Public speaking...
On the first Friday of every month, Auckland cartoonists and fellow travellers are invited to a gathering at the Auckland Public Library (upstairs at the Central branch, on Lorne Street), at 6-8pm. It’s mostly pretty informal and sociable, but this month I’m going to give a little talk (probably about my recent work, webcomics, and general interweb-related matters).

All welcome!

  1. Dan says:

Hi, I have a 9 year old who spends a lot of time drawing and writing comics. We’re wondering if anyone knows of courses or classes that he could do around Auckland to further his skill. Cheers, Dan

  2. Hi Dan – there may be some holiday programmes etc. (this page has links to various people running all kinds of holiday stuff – some might include cartooning)

You could try Artstation, which is in Ponsonby – they have holiday programmes and other courses, and if they don’t have anything to suit your son, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

There are also some competitions etc coming up, including Waitakere Libraries’ ‘Make a Manga‘ contest, and some other events connected with Library Week (in August).

I’m involved with one of these myself – a collaborative comics contest as part of Library Week, with details here.
