The weirdness of an intelligent, competent character coming out of a hentai story is making a lot more sense now, but recent revelations have also left me confused about Mr. Sleaze’s earlier comment about having made Miki smart. It seems someone else did that, and he knows that Miki knows it.
I think he’s just deluding himself. Akio’s obsession with Miki makes him regard himself as her sole creator, and he refuses to acknowledge the original creator, whoever that was.
And I was deluding myself, thinking that being grossed out a couple of pages ago would keep me away from here for long. 🙂
I worry very much about Miki now. If I go by what we learned in the pirate segment, the real people can’t really get hurt in the fiction. Which means that Miki can’t really hurt Akio either. She made a point of handing Satchmo over to Sam, which I suspect may lead up to her sacrificing herself while Sam still has the stash of comics.
Aside: I am an eager reader of Elfquest, and the current storyline features a warlord called Angrif Djun, who *also* is an utterly misogynistic psycho bastard. I asked Wendy Pini how she managed to write such an utterly reprehensible character. I feel like asking you the same, Dylan.

You ask the tough ones, don’t you Yngvar? Let’s just say I spend far too much time watching people interact online. 🙁
